The Time Travelers Wife is based on the best-selling book about a love that transcends time. Clare (Rachel mcadams) has been in love with Henry (Eric Bana) her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated: Henry is a time traveler—cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Despite the fact that Henrys travels force them apart with no warning, Clare desperately tries to build a life with her one true love.

@jmariemo HATERRR! thats why u dont expect movies to be like their books. ive come to grips with that a long time ago! the only thing i agree with u is that the lovely bones was a piece of shit movie that i wasted $10.78 on!!! i didnt even read the book! the movie standing alone was terrible!!

@charmedonessweetie u summed it up perfectly

I really and truly wanted to love this film, but I just couldn’t stomach it. They took a beautiful and inventive piece of literature and ruined it just like Peter Jackson did with The Lovely Bones.
But beyond the poor music choice, amateur cinematography, twisting of the plot, etc., my biggest complaint lies within the ending. The novel is entirely different. The last scene is Henry walking in a hall towards a lighted room where Clare sits as an old lady not in a field at the age of 30! WTF?

If you loved the novel as much as I did and appreciate cinematic art, then you will HATE this movie. They primarily focused on Clare and Henry present time. Where was his ex-girlfriend that committed suicide? Where were the constant flashbacks to his mother’s death? What happened to the whole Gomez-in-love-with-Clare thing? The plot was rushed with shallow characters. Eric Bana’s acting was terrible. Even Rachel McAdams, who I think is a wonderful and gifted actress, gives a poor performance.

the book was better than the movie, in my opinion. they shortened a lot of the good parts in the movie, but it was still okay. but the book kicks ass

WHAT SONG IS THAT AT THE END
February 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
I thought the movie was ok. The book was so much better though, it made me cry and cringe and laugh out loud. I think they did an ok job not screwing up the whole story changing it into a movie.

I didn’t quite understand the movie, maybe it’s cause I did not read the book. Why did he have to leave so fast at the end after he “died”? I didn’t get it! Overall, I thought it was a very good movie, it would have been much better if I understood the majority of the parts.
